Neil Budd qualified as a solicitor in 1988 and worked in local government for the London Borough of Barnet for seven years, specialising in commercial property and development projects

In 1995 Neil joined the Moscow office of an international law firm undertaking a broad range of work including including property, shipping, corporate, trade finance, asset finance, banking and securities.

In 1999 Neil returned to London and worked for the firm’s London office as an energy lawyer. He worked initially on conventional power projects in Eastern Europe and, from 2005 onwards, he specialised in renewable energy, including onshore and offshore wind, biomass, waste-to-energy and solar.

In 2012 Neil joined the London office of a top 50 UK law firm to develop his practice in solar and biomass and became a partner in the firm in 2016. 

In 2018, Neil founded Budd Legal to develop a more rounded UK and international practice in both conventional and renewable energy as well as infrastructure and real estate.
